Overview

Secret of the Fireflies is an immersive experience that reflects on the memory of fireflies in the summer time. Within a private theater, the participant relieve their memory of fireflies using a rocking chair as their portal to this experience. The installation includes Arduino technology with sensory elements.

Process

An immersive experience collaboration was shown at a the Gray Area Creative Coding Night. It used Arduino and sensors, that I learned in a summer class. The project captured summer evening smell of cut grass, sounds of crickets and sight of fireflies in a space. Sensor triggered by the speed of the rocking chair movement, which controlled LED sequence and visibility.

Project Role

  • Concept Development and Collaboration with Diana Galvis
  • Arduino programming for NeoPixel LED display (View code on Github)
  • Coordinate sensory elements for installation
  • Organized & installed theater black box with Jae Hamilton
